Industry-Specific Database Platforms Terms
As we know, there is data all over the place. A data platform sucks it up from all the places where data is produced and puts it in one place, so that people can use it.
But data looks different in different industries. In some industries, data is produced really fast, in others it mostly comes in words, in others data from the internet is very important.
An industry data model is a set of business and technical data models that are predesigned to meet the needs of a particular industry. It acts as a blueprint that provides common elements derived from best practices, government regulations and the complex data and analytic needs of an industry-specific organization.
Since the data platform looks different for every industry, some people call them ‘industry specific data platforms’. Especially if they are selling them.
It might. Industry specific refers to the different types of platforms required to support the special needs and requirements for the data produced, managed and contain.
In some cases this might be simple. If you are own restaurants or bars, you need to be able to capture and manage information pertaining to inventory, at the larger scale you will use specific types of software to store the data in a format compatible with APIs or your suppliers.
